International Pyrotechnics Society


History
The Society was officially formed in May 1980. However, The International Pyrotechnics Society can claim that its roots go back to 1968 when the First International Pyrotechnics Seminar was held at Estes Park Colorado, USA. In fact it was the Steering Committee of the Sixth International Pyrotechnics Seminar who officially formed the International Pyrotechnics Society. The Society has continued to sanction International Pyrotechnics Seminars. These have been held ever other year in the United States and other countries in years the Seminar has not been held in the United States, e.g., China, France, Japan, New Zealand, Russia and the United Kingdom. Over the years the membership of the Society has grown to approximately 275 from 30 countries.


Purposes of this Society
1. To promote and facilitate the exchange of information concerning the science and technology of energetic materials, including propellants, explosives, and pyrotechnics, among all interested persons.
2. To create and maintain information resources which can expedite and enhance a member’s search for information regarding the science and technology of energetic materials as well as information on devices and applications which utilize energetic materials.
3. To sponsor or sanction symposia on topics in the field of energetic materials research, development, technology and applications at such intervals as may be appropriate to further its first purpose as stated above.
4. To encourage research and education in the science and technology of energetic materials.

Membership
Membership is open to all persons who have and can show a bonafide interest in pyrotechnics, where pyrotechnics is defined in the broad sense to include all exothermic energetic materials used in both commercial and military applications. Both Regular (individual) and Corporate Membership categories exist. Currently, the dues for Regular Members are US$50 for two years. There are three levels of Corporate Membership (Sustaining, Supporting and Patron) to allow corporations to support the goals of the Society. Click here to see the current list of Corporate Members.

2. You will have a reduced fee for attending IPS Seminars
3. You will have access to Members-only Section at this IPS site, which includes a Forum, Archive 
4. You will receive the IPS Society Newsletter, we track related events, job openings, etc etc
